Description
On a moonlit beach in early summer, the waves whisper up the sand and slip back again. A sea turtle hauls herself above the tideline, scoops out a hollow with her flippers and settles in to lay her eggs, one perfect white sphere after another. By dawn she is gone, back to the ocean she came from, and only the soft trail in the sand shows where she has been. Two months later, the beach will come alive with hatchlings, scrambling toward the silver line of surf under the stars.
Beach lovers, conservation volunteers and anyone who has watched turtles nesting will treasure this little scene. Give it to a marine biologist, a family with a beach house, or a child who has adopted a turtle through an ocean charity. It looks lovely on a coastal-style shelf with seashells and driftwood, or on a desk as a reminder of summer. The egg can be lifted off and set beside its mother. The sandy palette and soft greens look especially pretty against white shelves or a pale blue wall.
