Description
Every year, on the first Sunday of Advent, Mamie climbed into the attic and brought down the box of Christmas treasures. The children would crowd around as she unwrapped each one, but the Santa on his yellow base was always the favorite. He went on the piano, right in the middle, where everyone could see his red coat, his little bear and the bell he seemed ready to ring.
This box has that same heirloom feel, the sort of piece that becomes part of a family’s traditions. The yellow base adds a warm glow, like candlelight, beneath Santa’s feet. Give it to a grandparent who loves to decorate, or to a young family starting their own collection of treasures. It looks lovely on a piano, a mantel or a sideboard, standing proudly among the garlands. Years from now, someone will unwrap him from tissue paper and remember exactly where he always stood. The yellow beneath him will still look like a pool of lamplight.
