Description
Red leaves, white snow and a bell over the door that rang every few minutes: the florist on the corner of the square had never been busier. Each morning she set out a single basket of poinsettias, and each morning it was snapped up before noon. Then came a blizzard, the streets emptied, and for once the last basket was still on the counter at closing time. She carried it home through the snow and kept it on her own table all season long.
This box takes the form of a basket filled with poinsettias, the flower that seems made for December. Its festive blooms brighten a dining table, a nightstand or a mantel lined with greenery, and they never need watering or worry about a cold draught. Tuck a ring or a little folded message beneath its hinged lid and give it in place of fresh flowers that would fade by New Year. Grouped with candles and a few sprigs of cedar, it makes a centrepiece small enough to leave room for every dish at Christmas dinner.
