Far down where the ice cliffs meet the sea, a young penguin named Gaston decided the South Pole had been overlooked for far too long. If Santa would not come, he reasoned, then someone would have to be Santa. He found a red hat (nobody asked where), wrapped his finest pebble in a scrap of ribbon, and set off across the ice with tremendous dignity and very short steps. The other penguins watched, puzzled, and then began to follow.
