Description
It is the afternoon of the twenty-sixth. The wrapping paper has been folded away, the turkey is a memory, and the house has gone soft and slow. Snow falls past the windows of a chalet in the Jura, and somebody has put another log on the fire. This, Margaux has always thought, is the best part of Christmas: the hour after everything is done.
She fills the kettle. Her father, napping in the armchair with a book on his chest, wakes just long enough to ask for chamomile. Her little sister requests the one with the holly painted on the cup, and nobody would dream of refusing. They sit together in the glow of the tree, sipping, saying very little, perfectly content. This festive teacup, with its tiny porcelain tea bag, brings that unhurried warmth to the season. It is a sweet stocking gift for a tea lover, a hostess present for a holiday open house, or a cheerful addition to a Christmas shelf of seasonal treasures. Display it with fir sprigs and candles.
