Description
Deep beneath the roots of the old oak, the rabbit had been planning for weeks. On Christmas Eve he buttoned up his red coat, set the smallest fir in the forest at the centre of his burrow and trimmed it with acorn caps and holly berries. By eight o’clock the hedgehogs had arrived, then the field mice, then a very polite badger who brought carrot cake. Nobody went home before midnight, and the badger had to be woken up twice.
