Description
The labels on the old trunk read like a poem: Le Havre, Southampton, Alexandria, Buenos Aires. In the story Mathilde’s grandchildren like best, she packed it at nineteen with two dresses, a hat box and a bundle of letters tied with ribbon, and set off alone across the ocean. Whenever they opened its lid as children, they half expected to find the sea itself folded neatly inside.
This miniature trunk keeps that sense of discovery, with a decorative design waiting under the lid for whoever opens it. It makes a wonderful send-off for a student heading abroad, a gift for a couple planning a big anniversary trip, or a bon voyage present for someone with a long list of destinations still to see.
