Description
Cherry blossoms were drifting along the Tidal Basin the spring Margot’s class took the bus to Washington. She had seen the White House a thousand times on television, but nothing prepared her for the real thing: the gleaming columns, the sweep of green lawn, the flag snapping above the roof against a brilliant blue sky. While her classmates posed for photographs, she stood very still at the fence and quietly decided what she wanted to be when she grew up.
This miniature White House captures the stately architecture of that iconic residence, with its columns and portico rendered in fine hand-painted detail. Inside, there is room for small trinkets. It makes a memorable gift for a history buff, a civics teacher, a newly elected official, a friend returning from a trip to the capital, or anyone marking a patriotic occasion such as Presidents’ Day or the Fourth of July.
