Description
Paris, a Saturday in May. Marguerite has walked the length of the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré twice, tried on eleven dresses and bought exactly one. It is black, of course. Then came the shoes, which were not on the list, and a second bag, which was entirely unplanned. Now she is back in her rented flat, barefoot on the creaky old parquet, admiring her loot in the long afternoon light. Somewhere below, a scooter buzzes past and a neighbor is practicing scales on a piano. She pours a glass of something cold and decides the dinner reservation can wait half an hour.
If you know someone who comes home from every trip with one more bag than she left with, this is her box. It makes a delightful gift for a fashion lover, a bride heading to Paris for her honeymoon, or a friend celebrating a new job and a new wardrobe to match. Place it on a vanity beside a bottle of perfume, or on a closet shelf among the hat boxes.
