Description
Rain had just stopped when Élodie climbed the last of the stairs to the top of the Arc. Below her, twelve avenues spun out like the spokes of a wheel, cars swirling around the great roundabout, the Champs-Élysées stretching all the way to the Louvre. She had promised herself this view on her twenty-first birthday, and here it was, glistening, with the Eiffel Tower poking through the clouds. She stayed until the streetlights came on, unwilling to let the city go.
This box brings the triumphal arch home in miniature. Its grand arch and stately proportions are painted in careful detail, and inside there is room for a ring, a Métro ticket or a coin brought back from France. At two and a half inches tall, it makes a dignified addition to a desk or a bookshelf, perhaps beside a stack of Paris guidebooks. Choose it for a Francophile, a newlywed couple fresh from a Paris honeymoon, or a student counting the days until a semester abroad. Its pale stone tones look especially handsome against dark wood or a leather-bound book.
