Description
What is it about a ball? A dog in a Provençal village could have a sunny terrace, a cool stone floor and a bowl of fresh water at his disposal, and still he would choose to sit beside his striped ball, staring at you, waiting. Throw it once and he is yours for the afternoon. Pretend to throw it and he will forgive you, eventually, after a long and meaningful look that makes you feel thoroughly ashamed of yourself.
This is a happy little present for the person whose dog has a basket overflowing with chewed-up toys, or for an animal shelter volunteer who has thrown a thousand balls for a thousand hopeful pups. It brightens a family room bookshelf, a desk at the office or the shelf beside the leash hooks by the door, where it captures the mood just before every walk.
