Description
Imagine the coldest place on earth, the wind howling across the ice at a hundred kilometres an hour, the sky dark for months on end. Now imagine a penguin chick, grey and fluffy and no bigger than a teapot, tucked safe and warm against its mother’s feet, utterly unbothered by any of it. That is the miracle of the penguin family, and it is why so many of us find them impossible to resist. Somehow, in the harshest of places, the little ones are always kept warm.
This piece captures that devoted closeness. A mother penguin stands with her baby beside her, both painted with gentle detail, from the sleek plumage of the parent to the soft down of the chick. It holds small treasures inside and is perfectly sized for the top of a changing table or a crib-side shelf. Expectant parents will treasure it, and it makes a lovely keepsake for a mother at any stage of life, and a charming addition for bird lovers who collect penguins in every form.
