Description
In the glass palm house of the botanical garden, the air was warm and green even in January, and visitors came in shaking snow from their coats. A little boy named Théo once stood there for an entire hour, convinced that a parrot in the aviary was trying to tell him a joke. It bobbed its head, ruffled its feathers and squawked something that sounded remarkably like his name. His mother finally had to coax him away with the promise of hot chocolate and a return visit in spring.
This blue macaw carries all that tropical brightness into a much cooler climate. Vivid blue plumage meets a splash of sunny yellow, and the feathers are picked out in fine painted detail. Perch it on a sunny windowsill among potted orchids, on a study shelf beside a field guide, or in a cabinet with other bird pieces, where its colour will stand out at once. A small treasure fits neatly inside. It is also a happy reminder of holidays spent somewhere warm, where the birds are louder than the traffic.
