Description
Mist hangs over the marsh at first light, and the reeds are silver with dew. Then, out of the grey, a pair of mallards comes gliding in, wings set, feet down, landing with a soft splash that sends ripples across the water. The old man in the hide lowers his binoculars and smiles. He has watched them arrive here every morning for thirty years, and he has never once grown tired of the sight.
This mallard duck is painted in vibrant colors, capturing the bird’s classic good looks. It is a charming gift for a bird watcher, a hunter, a member of a wetland conservation society, or anyone whose home has a country or lakeside feel. Set it on a mantel among brass candlesticks, on a desk in a wood-paneled study, or on a kitchen windowsill overlooking the garden pond. Collectors of waterfowl carvings find that it fits right in among decoys and wildlife prints, adding the gloss of porcelain to the rustic wood.
