Description
Bees droned loudly that July, the kind of loud that makes a meadow feel like it is humming to itself. Odile, aged six, had been told to stay where the grown-ups could see her straw hat, so she sat absolutely still among the daisies at the edge of the hayfield and waited for something to happen.
Something did. A butterfly, no bigger than her thumbnail, landed on the flower right beside her knee and folded its wings. She did not breathe. She did not call out. She simply watched, and decades later she can still describe the exact pattern on those wings. This dainty piece holds that same suspended instant. It is small enough for a bedside table or a crowded curio shelf, and makes a gentle gift for a birthday in summer, a garden lover, or someone recovering who needs a reminder of sunny days and patience rewarded.
A closer look
- A butterfly perched on top of a daisy
- Very petite, about 1″ x 0.75″ x 2″
- Opens for a single earring or a tiny charm
- Designed and made by Rochard
- Brushed by hand onto delicate Limoges porcelain in France
Because it is so small, it pairs beautifully with a larger floral piece on a shelf, like a butterfly that has wandered over to visit. It rewards anyone who looks closely.
