Description
Seville, close to midnight. In a whitewashed courtyard strung with lanterns, the guitarist plays the first slow notes and the room falls silent. Then she steps into the light: chin high, red dress scattered with white polka dots, ruffles swirling about her ankles. Heels strike the boards, palms clap sharply, and the music quickens until nobody can sit still. When the final chord rings out, she freezes mid-turn, and the whole courtyard roars. Somewhere, an orange tree drops a blossom, and a little girl at the back of the crowd decides then and there what she wants to be.
This spirited dancer brings the passion of Andalusia to any room. She makes a striking gift for a dancer or dance teacher, a traveller just back from Spain, or someone with Spanish heritage who loves to celebrate it. Give her for a recital, a birthday or a milestone performance. She shines on a dressing table, a bookshelf among travel memoirs, or a piano where music is played often. A small trinket can be tucked inside her. The polka dots, the swirl of red and the proud tilt of her pose make her a vivid splash of colour wherever she lands.
