Description
What colour would you choose? That was the only question that mattered at the kitchen table on Easter Saturday, with bowls of dye lined up like paint pots and a dozen hard-boiled eggs cooling on a tea towel. Margot chose yellow and violet. Her brother chose green with orange spots. Their father, who claimed to be an artist, produced something he described as a sunset and the children described as a disaster.
This box gathers that rainbow of choices onto one shape. The egg is painted all over with small colourful Easter eggs, as though a whole basket has been emptied onto it, and it opens to tuck away trinkets. It makes a lovely Easter present for a child or grandchild, a spring hostess gift, or an addition to a collection of decorative eggs that grows a little each year. Display it on a mantel among fresh tulips, or on a breakfast table beside a basket of real eggs, and it brings instant cheer to any room. The mix of bright colours looks like a spring garden in full bloom.
