Description
Two doves on the windowsill, every morning, for as long as the newlyweds lived in that little house in Burgundy. They named them after the friends who had introduced them, and laughed when the birds seemed to bicker over crumbs, just as their friends did. When they moved away years later, the first thing they bought for the new house was a bird feeder, and the doves, or perhaps their grandchildren, came to visit there too. Love, they decided, is mostly a matter of showing up each morning together, through every season, whatever the weather brings.
This box shows two doves resting together on a decorative basket, an age-old symbol of devotion and peace. Measuring about three inches, it is a meaningful gift for a wedding, an anniversary, a vow renewal or a christening. Display it on a mantel, a vanity or in a curio cabinet, and use it to keep wedding bands safe during the reception or to hold a keepsake from the big day. The doves and basket are painted with soft detail, and the modest size lets it slip easily into a gift bag for a wedding table.
