Description
Monsieur Lapin has a plan. Every evening, when the gardener of the old manor goes in for his soup, a small brown rabbit slips under the gate, crosses the lettuce rows without a sound and makes straight for the carrots. He never takes more than one. He carries it to the shade of the rhubarb, settles on a wide leaf and nibbles thoughtfully, ears twitching at every rustle in the hedge. The gardener knows perfectly well, and pretends he doesn’t.
This sweet box captures the little thief in his moment of triumph. The bunny’s brown fur is painted with fine detail, he rests on a bright green leaf, and his carrot is a loose piece you can pluck free. Beneath him the box opens, just right for a stray earring dropped after a day in the garden. Give it to an Easter-loving grandchild, a gardener with a soft spot for wildlife or a friend whose own pet rabbit rules the household. It looks charming on a windowsill beside a pot of herbs, or nestled in an Easter basket. His little face is all innocence, nose pink and whiskers fine, as though he had never set paw in a vegetable bed.
