Description
Grandmother keeps her favorite ornaments wrapped in tissue paper in a battered shoebox, and the first thing she unwraps each December is always Father Christmas, the old-fashioned kind, with a long robe and a beard down to his belt. The grandchildren gather around the box on the living room rug, and she tells them which ornament came from which year, which one the cat broke, and which one their mother made in kindergarten.
This box gathers three Old World Santas that nest one inside another, each with intricate hand-painted designs. Little ones watch, delighted, as each smaller Santa appears in turn. It becomes a treasured present for a Christmas collector, a family heirloom in the making, or a centerpiece on a holiday mantel among greenery and candlelight. Unpacking it may become the moment each year that signals the season has truly begun. Each Santa has his own character, and children quickly pick a favorite.
