Description
After years of renting, they finally have the keys. The house is small and white, with a red roof, a crooked chimney and windows that let in far more draft than anyone admitted at the viewing. They do not care. On the first night they sit on the floor surrounded by boxes, eating takeaway pizza by candlelight, and decide that the little window above the front door will be where they put the Christmas star every year. The neighbors wave over the fence. It already feels like home.
This white house with its bright red roof celebrates that kind of beginning. The windows are painted with intricate detail, so it looks like a real home waiting for someone to come back to it. It is a classic housewarming present, a gift for first-time buyers, or a memento for a family leaving a much-loved home behind. On a mantel or entryway shelf, it radiates warmth, and it is the perfect place to keep a spare key. Many families add a new box for every home they live in. Its crisp white walls look fresh in any décor.
