Description
Is there any sound quite like a jukebox arm swinging into place? In a little roadside café outside Avignon, the regulars still remember the old machine in the corner, its polished wood cabinet humming softly under the neon. Everyone had a song. The baker always chose something by Piaf, the mechanic preferred rock and roll, and the café owner pretended to be annoyed by all of it while tapping his foot behind the counter. On Friday nights the dancing spilled out onto the gravel, under strings of bulbs that swung in the warm wind.
This warm brown jukebox carries the nostalgia of those evenings, compact enough for a mantel or a bookshelf beside a turntable. Inside is a small holder for a guitar pick, a ticket stub or a ring. Give it to a music lover with a crate of records, to a couple whose first dance was to an old classic, or to a parent who still sings along to the radio in the car without the slightest embarrassment. Band leaders and choir directors, take note: it suits you too.
