Description
The key is always under the same shell by the door. Inside, the house smells of salt and sun cream and last summer’s paperback novels, and the first thing everyone does is throw open the windows so the sound of the waves can come rushing in. By evening there are wet towels on the porch rail, a bucket of shells on the step, and a crowd of cousins arguing cheerfully over whose turn it is to light the grill.
For families with a beach house, or a beach house dream, this little box is a happy reminder. Give it to grandparents who host everyone each August, to a couple who have just bought a cottage by the shore, or to a friend who rents the same place year after year. Set it on a bathroom shelf among the seashells, or on a bedside table where it can promise warmer days ahead all winter.
