Description
Dusk at the end of a country lane in Burgundy, and Santa was sitting, quite comfortably, on top of the mailbox. He was early. The postwoman would not come by for another twenty minutes, but he liked to collect the last letters in person. They were always the most interesting: the ones written in a rush, the ones that changed their mind halfway down the page, the one from the farmer’s son who wanted only that his grandmother’s cough would get better. Santa read each one with care, then folded it and tucked it into the inside pocket of his coat.
This box shows Santa on a mailbox, and with a longest measurement near four and a quarter inches, it is one of the more substantial pieces in a holiday collection. It would make a charming gift for a postal worker, a pen pal, a stationery lover or anyone who still writes letters by hand. Display it beside a letter rack, on a writing desk or in a hallway near where the mail arrives each day.
