Description
Click. The cue ball rolls, kisses the stripe and sends it gliding toward the corner pocket. In the back room of the café, under a green-shaded lamp, Paul chalks his cue and pretends not to care whether it drops. It does. His brother groans. Now there is only the black 8 ball left, and the whole evening, the bet, the bragging rights, the next round of drinks, comes down to a single shot along the cushion.
This box captures the game in miniature, with a pool 8 ball design painted on porcelain. Made by Rochard, it measures 2.25 x 2.25 x 2.25 inches, a compact cube that opens to hold small treasures such as cufflinks, a lucky coin or a tie clip. It is a wonderful gift for the billiards player in the family, the friend who has a table in the basement, or a father who taught you to play. Place it on the edge of a bar cart, a game room shelf or a desk, where it can remind its owner to keep his eye on the ball.
