Description
Four o’clock, and not a minute later. Every afternoon, Tante Rose drew the lace curtains half closed, filled the china pot with Earl Grey and settled into her chair with her feet on a footstool covered in pink roses. The cat claimed the warm spot beside her ankles. The telephone could ring, the postman could knock, the neighbors could argue in the street below; nothing in the world was allowed to hurry her tea.
Her nieces used to tease her about it, until they grew up, got busy, and realized she had known the secret all along. This flowered footstool with its cup of tea is a gentle reminder to rest. Save it for a tea lover, a new mother who deserves a break, a friend recovering from a hard season, or a grandmother who has earned every one of her quiet afternoons. Place it on a side table beside a teapot, or on a bedroom shelf with a pile of novels.
