Description
As dusk falls, a hedgehog crosses the garden of a stone cottage in Brittany, snuffling through the lettuce bed and leaving tiny footprints in the dew. The children of the house have named him Monsieur Piquant, and they leave out a saucer of water for him every night, peering through the kitchen window with their noses pressed to the glass. When he finally appears, there is a great deal of whispering and elbowing, and their mother pretends to be cross about bedtime.
This little hedgehog box captures that beloved garden visitor, and it holds small treasures or trinkets inside. He would be a sweet gift for a wildlife lover, a gardener who welcomes every creature, or a child who adores woodland stories. Tuck it among potted plants on a windowsill, or on a bookshelf next to a well-loved picture book. Being so small, he slips easily into a stocking or an Easter basket as a surprise.
