Description
French children do not hang stockings. They set their shoes by the fireplace on Christmas Eve, polished and lined up in a row, and in the morning they find small treasures tucked inside. That year, in a farmhouse in the Auvergne, the littlest boy placed his blue shoes beside the hearth, and his grandmother tucked a sprig of holly into one of them for luck.
By morning, a teddy bear sat snugly in the shoe. The family puppy, who had been sniffing around all night, refused to leave its side, and by lunchtime the dog and the bear were inseparable. This box captures that very French tradition, a teddy bear in a blue shoe decorated with holly, plus a dog included alongside. Offer it to a family that loves French customs, a dog owner, or a child celebrating Christmas abroad.
