Description
December snow had piled high against the bakery window, and inside the Durand family was packing holiday baskets for the neighbors: plates of gingerbread, a cake for the elderly couple upstairs, a tin of sugared almonds for the postman, and ribbon simply everywhere. The youngest Durand was in charge of the bows, and took the job extremely seriously, retying each one at least twice.
Every basket was delivered by sledge, the children taking turns to pull while their father carried the most fragile cake. This porcelain holiday basket brings that generous tradition to life, filled with plates and a cupcake and decorated with festive motifs of Santa, a snowman and wrapped gifts. It makes a merry present for a hostess, a teacher, or the neighbor who always remembers everyone at Christmas. Place it on a mantel among the stockings, on a side table next to the cookie tin, or beneath the tree where little ones can kneel to admire it.
