Description
Under the lime trees, the long table was set for twelve, with mismatched chairs borrowed from every room in the house and a white cloth that kept lifting in the breeze. At its center stood a tall bowl of fruit crowned with a pineapple, the old symbol of welcome. Guests reached for grapes and figs between courses, children stole cherries when they thought no one was looking, and everyone lingered until the candles burned low and the crickets took over the conversation.
This box captures that generous centerpiece in miniature: a bowl of fruit topped with a pineapple, raised on a gold stand and painted in vibrant colors. It lifts open to keep small trinkets inside. Give it to a gracious hostess, a couple settling into their first home, or a friend who never lets anyone leave her table hungry. On a dining room sideboard, it quietly sets the tone for every meal that follows.
