Description
Five o’clock in the morning on Lac d’Annecy, and the mist has not yet lifted from the water. Old Gaston rows out from the wooden dock with a thermos of coffee, a tin of worms and the same fishing rod he has used since he was a boy. He does not care much whether the trout bite. What he loves is the hush, the slap of water on the hull and the first gold light touching the mountains.
This box holds that perfect stillness. A fisherman sits in his boat beside the dock, his fishing gear close at hand, the water around him painted in gentle ripples. Every detail invites you to imagine the cool air and the cry of a distant bird. It is a natural gift for an angler, a grandfather who taught the family to cast a line, a friend who keeps a cabin by a lake, or anyone who measures happiness in quiet mornings on the water. Display it on a bookshelf beside a framed photograph of a prize catch, or on an office desk as a daily reminder of the weekend ahead.
The details
- A fisherman in a small boat beside a dock
- Fishing gear and rippling water painted in detail
- A peaceful lakeside or harbor mood
- A thoughtful piece for fishing enthusiasts
- Opens to hold a lucky lure or a small keepsake
- Hand-painted porcelain made in the French city of Limoges
Give it for Father’s Day, a retirement from the office or the opening day of fishing season. It suits a lake house mantel just as well as a city apartment shelf, where it brings a breath of open water indoors.
