Description
The book club in the Rue des Vignes has never actually finished a novel. They meet on the first Thursday of every month at Margaux’s apartment, they admire the cover of whatever they were supposed to read, and then someone uncorks a Bordeaux and the evening drifts toward gossip, laughter and arguments about whether rosé counts as a serious wine. Somebody always brings cheese from the market, and somebody always forgets the corkscrew, which is why Margaux now keeps three.
This little box understands them completely. Here is the book, lying open as if someone has just been reading aloud; here is the corkscrew, ready for duty; here is the glass, waiting to be filled. It would look perfect on Margaux’s bar cart between the decanter and the candle stubs, or on the desk of any friend who keeps a cellar journal and believes the best chapters are the ones savored slowly. It is a small, smiling reminder that the best book clubs are really about friendship, and that a good glass improves almost any plot.
