Description
October’s last night always belonged to Minuit. The black cat would slip out at dusk and settle on the doorstep right beside the carved pumpkin, where the candle inside threw a flickering orange glow across her whiskers. Every child who climbed the steps for sweets got a slow, unblinking stare. Most of them said “bonsoir” to her before they remembered to say “trick or treat,” and one tiny dragon even offered her a toffee, which she politely declined.
This hinged box shows a black cat with a jack-o’-lantern, the timeless double act of Halloween, in a pleasingly small size. It looks wonderful among real mini pumpkins on a porch-side table, beside a bowl of sweets in the hall, or on a bookcase next to a collection of spooky stories. Tuck a wrapped toffee inside and leave it for a young guest to discover on the big night, then watch their eyes widen when the lid opens. On November first, when the costumes are folded away, it can stay out a little longer, still guarding the hall as faithfully as Minuit ever guarded the step.
