Description
Somewhere over Manhattan, a few minutes before midnight on Christmas Eve, the sleigh slowed. Santa had a long list and very little time, but he could not resist. He parked the reindeer in a cloud and stepped onto the spire of the Empire State Building to take in the view, brushing snow from his beard and catching his breath in the cold, bright air high above the avenues.
Below him spread a quilt of lit windows, yellow cabs and skating rinks, and somewhere a girl in Brooklyn swore she saw a red speck waving from the top. This box is a joyful pick for anyone who loves New York at the holidays: a couple who got engaged there, a family that visits the department store windows each December, or a Christmas collector who wants something with a city twist. Display it beside the tree or on a mantel strung with tiny lights.
