Description
Ring, ring. In the hallway of the flat on Rue des Lilas, the yellow telephone sits on its own little table, and when it rings everyone in the house races for it. It might be Aunt Margot calling from Marseille, or the boy from the bakery shyly asking about Saturday, or simply a wrong number that turns into a twenty-minute conversation about the weather and the cost of artichokes.
This bright little box recalls the days when a call was an event and the phone had a curly cord you could twist round your finger for hours. Give it to a sister who still phones every Sunday, to a friend with a retro kitchen, or to a grandparent who remembers party lines and operators. Its cheerful yellow livens up a desk or a bookshelf and makes a handy home for a ring or a pair of earrings.
