Description
Gypsy jazz is pouring out of a café in Samois-sur-Seine, and in the corner a young woman with a red violin is playing faster than anyone thought possible. Her case lies open on the chair beside her, emerald green and painted with roses, collecting coins and the occasional folded note from an admirer. The crowd claps along, a dog barks in rhythm, and the guitarist beside her grins as if he has known all along she would steal the show.
This little box borrows that whole festival mood. The violin is a glossy scarlet, its bow laid alongside; the case is a lively green, blooming with floral patterns as if someone decorated it on a summer afternoon between sets. It brings color and spirit to a piano lid or a study desk, and it suits the musician who never quite plays by the rules, the one who turns every recital into a celebration. Open the lid and you can almost hear the tune again, quick and bright, spilling out into a warm summer night.
