Description
On the morning of their fortieth anniversary, Bernard rose before dawn and walked to the old rose arch at the end of the garden. The pink climber he had planted the year they married was in full bloom, and he cut a single stem and laid it on the breakfast tray, just as he had done every June since. His wife pretended, as always, to be surprised, then put the rose in her favourite little vase.
This heart-shaped box, painted with pink flowers trailing along a vine, holds that same tender devotion. It is a beautiful choice for Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, a wedding morning, or simply a Tuesday when someone deserves to be told they are loved. Place it on a bedside table to keep a ring or a folded love note, or set it on a vanity among pearls and perfume. Its soft pink palette and flowing vine evoke the romance of French court decoration, delicate rather than showy, the kind of beauty that grows more precious with time.
