Description
The caravan rests at sunset. Sand dunes glow orange and violet, a fire crackles, and the travelers wrap themselves in blankets against the coming chill of the desert night. Near the tents, a mother camel kneels in the sand, and her baby, all knobby legs and curious eyes, folds itself clumsily beside her. She nuzzles its head, and the two of them settle in to watch the stars appear one by one.
This box captures that tender closeness. The camel and her baby are painted with fine detail in warm, sandy tones, their quiet bond at the heart of the design. Standing about three and a half inches tall, it is one of the more substantial pieces you could choose, and it opens to cradle a ring or a baby’s hospital bracelet. It suits a new mother, a baby shower or Mother’s Day, and a delight for anyone who has ridden a camel at the pyramids or crossed the dunes of Morocco. Their long lashes and gentle faces are painted with real tenderness, and the baby leans in close to its mother’s side.
