When Do We Receive The Fourth Stimulus Check – Despite YouTube videos calling for a fourth stimulus check, Congress has taken no such action.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress has passed three bills that included direct payments to millions of Americans — commonly known as stimulus checks. The three charges totaled more than $3,000 for eligible Americans. The most recent of these payments occurred in March 2021.

When Do We Receive The Fourth Stimulus Check

Viewer Sally sent a text to the VERIFY team asking if the fourth stimulus check had been approved. He shared links to several YouTube videos making the claim, including one posted on Nov. 1 from a channel with more than 400,000 subscribers that said, “The 4th Big Stimulus is in check.” Google Trends data also shows that it has grown. Over the past week, people searching for “4th stimulus check passed today.”

Stimulus Update: Is A 4th Stimulus Check Really Coming?

An IRS spokesperson told VERIFY that no audit of the fourth incentive was conducted. The IRS and the US Treasury Department have information on their websites about how people can get the three previous stimulus payments if they haven’t already, and they don’t mention the fourth payment.

The previous three stimulus checks were part of legislation passed by Congress and signed by the current president. The first check, for $1,200, was part of the CARES Act passed in March 2020. The second check, for $600, was part of a package delivered in December 2020. A third check, for $1,400, was included. In the American rescue plan adopted in March 2021.

A list of laws passed by the current Congress is posted online. A review of these laws shows that there is no additional legislation covering incentives.

In March 2021, a group of Senate Democrats called for repeated stimulus payments to be included in President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda. But recurring payments are not part of the Build Back Better plan that the Biden administration unveiled on Oct. 28.

Will There Be A 4th Stimulus Check? Here’s The Latest Update On Another Payment.

When asked in June 2021 about the possibility of a fourth stimulus check, White House press secretary Jen Psaki played down the idea.

“[President Biden] is happy to hear a range of ideas about what will be most effective and what’s most important to moving the economy forward,” Psaki said. “But he also suggested what he thought would be most effective. In the short term, to get people back to work, to get through this critical period of time, and also in the long term to make us more competitive.”

Psaki was asked again about the fourth stimulus check in July 2021. His response focused on measures to support the American bailout rather than another round of payments.

Some states, such as California, sent direct payments to certain residents in addition to federal stimulus checks. But the fourth federal stimulus did not pass muster.

Currently, there are no plans for a fourth stimulus check in 2022. This does not mean that additional financial assistance has been attempted in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

A petition for $2,000 checks for adults and $1,000 for children has been signed by 2.97 million people. If it reaches 3 million signatures, the petition will become one of Change.org’s most signed petitions.

Will There Be A Fourth Stimulus Check? What We Know So Far

And while this petition has garnered millions of signatures and widespread attention, it is unlikely to move Congress to act. Instead, efforts are underway to increase the child tax credit, a measure passed during the March American bailout. The child tax pays parents up to $300 per month for children ages 5 and under and $250 per child ages 6-17. The rest of the money — up to $1,800 — can be claimed when you file your 2021 taxes in 2022.

The $2.2 trillion Build Back Better bill, which passed the House on Nov. 19 and is now before the U.S. Senate, would extend the monthly payments through 2022, a departure from President Joe Biden’s proposal to extend them through 2025.

The bill needs a simple majority to pass, but at least two Democratic senators, Kristen Sinema of Arizona and Joe Mancini of West Virginia, have expressed concerns about aspects of the bill. If the Senate amends or amends the bill, it must return to the House for approval before going to Biden for his signature.

How this will play out remains to be seen, and it seems unlikely that it will pass in time for monthly checks to continue smoothly. Child tax credit payments will begin on December 15.

2021 Parents with a newborn baby are eligible for a child tax credit paid in a lump sum of up to $3,600 when filing taxes.

Dozens of Democrats in Congress want President Biden to consider repeated stimulus payments until the coronavirus pandemic is over.

Even Without Fourth Stimulus Check, Millions Of Americans To Receive More Money This Summer

WASHINGTON — Dozens of congressional Democrats are calling on President Joe Biden to propose a fourth pandemic-related stimulus check and beyond, according to multiple reports. It comes after the third check — $1,400 for most Americans — went through a painless procedure that received zero Republican support.

Yahoo! Finance reports that 50 Democratic members of the House and 11 Democratic senators have signed letters calling on Biden to force repeated payments to Americans before the pandemic continues. Fox News and Newsweekreported that 21 senators called on the administration to automatically extend unemployment insurance benefits.

“Unemployment insurance replaced lost income for millions who lost their jobs. But millions of others don’t qualify for unemployment insurance after seeing their hours cut, moving to lower-paying jobs or temporarily leaving the workforce to care for family members. A pandemic,” the letter, obtained by Fox News, reads.

This is not the first time that the idea of recurring payments has come up. In the wake of the CARES Act of 2020 and its $1,200 stimulus check, there have been calls for a $2,000 repeat payment from both senators and economists — a call that has been repeated every few months.

Americans overwhelmingly supported Biden’s first COVID package, which was passed three weeks ago. It included a $1,400 check for individual Americans earning up to $75,000 and $2,800 for couples earning $150,000, plus a $1,400 kicker per dependent. Pew Research reported that support for the bill was 70%. A Politico/Morning Consult poll found 72% supported him.

A George Washington University political scientist compiled data to find that the bill was the fifth most popular congressional bill or executive action in the past 31 years, the Economist reported.

But even with that, passing the $1.9 trillion bill — which included provisions for extended unemployment benefits, an increase in the child tax and more — was far from easy. Democrats used budget reconciliation. With two votes in the House and one in the Senate, no Republicans voted in favor and there were several Democrats in the House voting against. It took lowering the minimum wage to $15 an hour and some intense negotiations with moderate Sen. Joe Manchin, D-WV, over unemployment benefits to barely make it through the Senate.

It is too early to say whether the proposal for recurring payments will go ahead. If it does, the income cap on payments would likely be lowered, as Republicans called for in the latest bill. Many Americans are waiting and wondering if they can expect to receive a fourth round of stimulus payments later in the year. To ease the financial constraints caused by the ongoing economic downturn. After the first three rounds of stimulus were issued in 2020 and 2021, the focus has shifted to the potential for a fourth round in 2023.
